ATS Beta-Press 316L Ball Valves — Laser Marking Verified at the Production Station

Luckee conducted an inline inspection during active production of the ATS Beta-Press 2-piece stainless steel ball valve range — observing the laser engraving station live, verifying brand, batch code, and 316L material grade on individual valve bodies, and confirming dimensional and packaging compliance before shipment.

Inspection Brief

What This Inline Inspection Covered

The ATS Beta-Press ball valve is a 2-piece stainless steel press-fit isolation valve designed for direct integration into press-fit pipework systems — no threading or soldering required. For a product carrying a brand mark and rated to PN25, the quality of the laser engraving and the accuracy of the material grade declaration are critical: a mismarked material grade on a live plumbing system can create liability for the installer and the supplier.

This inline inspection focused on four verification points: laser marking quality at the production station, dimensional accuracy of the press-fit ends, material grade visibility and legibility, and packaging integrity from inner poly bag through to outer carton labelling. Both SKUs in the current production run were inspected — the 22mm (BP-V-2P-PP-22) and 54mm (BP-V-2P-PP-54) sizes.

Core Inspection Focus

Laser Marking Verified Live at the Production Station

The inspector was present at the fiber laser marking machine while active production was underway. Each valve body was placed in a custom-made wooden jig aligned under the laser head, and three distinct marks were applied per unit. All three marks were verified for legibility and correct content before the batch was cleared for packaging.

Inspection Checks

Four Verification Points — All Passed

Each verification point was documented with photographs taken at the time of inspection.

DN50 PN25 body marking
✓ Passed
DN50 PN25 Body Marking — Embossed Casting
Pressure rating (PN25) and nominal diameter (DN50) are correctly embossed into the valve body casting for the 54mm SKU. Both press-fit ends marked "54" — consistent with the carton label size declaration.
Caliper measurement 150.68mm
✓ Passed
Dimensional Check — 150.68mm Overall Length
Digital caliper measurement of the 54mm valve body returned 150.68mm overall length — within the specified dimensional tolerance. The press-fit end diameters were also checked against the 54mm nominal bore specification.
Inner packaging poly bags
✓ Passed
Inner Packaging — Individual Poly Bag Per Unit
Each valve is individually poly-bagged before being packed into the outer carton — preventing contact damage between units during transit. Handle orientation within the bag is consistent, indicating a standardised packing process.
Carton label 22mm SKU
✓ Passed
Outer Carton Label — SKU, Size, Qty, Weight
Both SKU carton labels confirmed: SKU code, nominal size, quantity per carton, net weight, and gross weight all correctly populated and legible. Labels match the purchase order specification for both the 22mm and 54mm sizes.
Laser mark quality across production tray
Inline — Laser
Laser Mark Consistency Across Production Batch
Multiple units in the production tray examined for marking consistency. Brand name, batch code, and material grade marks are uniform in depth, position, and legibility across sampled units — confirming the jig alignment and laser parameters are correctly set for this run.
Shipment pallet ready
✓ Passed
Pallet Presentation — Strapped and Shrink-Wrapped
Finished shipment pallet confirmed strapped with white banding, shrink-wrapped, and topped with a protective plywood board. Multiple carton labels cross-checked against the packing list — quantities and SKU codes align with the ATS Proequipment purchase order.
Valve under hydrostatic water bath test
✓ Passed
Hydrostatic Pressure Test — Water Bath Submersion
The Beta-Press ball valve was pressurised and submerged in a water bath as part of the factory pressure test sequence. No leakage was detected at the body joint faces, stem seal, or press-fit ends during the full test duration.
Pressure test bench dual gauge panel
Inline — Pressure
Test Bench — Dual Calibrated Pressure Gauges (0–1.6 MPa)
Factory pressure test bench with two HONOO-brand gauges rated to 1.6 MPa (16 bar). Dual-gauge setup provides redundant pressure confirmation during the test cycle — both gauges must agree within tolerance for the result to be accepted.
28mm press-end caliper measurement
✓ Passed
Press-End OD — 28mm Valve: 28.78mm
Digital caliper measurement of the 28mm valve press-fit spigot OD returned 28.78mm — within the EN 1254-7 tolerance band for this nominal size. The size mark "28" on the valve body was confirmed to match the measured dimension.
150.68
mm — digital caliper reading
Dimensional Verification — 54mm Beta-Press Ball Valve
Overall body length measured with calibrated digital caliper
The 54mm (DN50) Beta-Press ball valve body was measured across the overall length from press-fit end to press-fit end using a digital vernier caliper. Reading of 150.68mm falls within the specified dimensional tolerance for this valve size. The inspector also verified the 54mm nominal bore dimensions of both press-fit ends — consistent with the carton size declaration and the DN50 embossed on the valve body.
Within Tolerance
28.78
mm — press-end OD caliper check
Press-Fit End Diameter — 28mm Beta-Press Ball Valve
Outer diameter of press spigot end measured at 28.78mm
The press-fit spigot end of the 28mm valve was measured with a digital caliper. A reading of 28.78mm confirms the OD is within the EN 1254-7 press-fit tolerance band for the 28mm nominal size — ensuring the valve will correctly engage with compatible press-fit pipe and fittings in the field. The "28" size marking on the valve body was also confirmed legible.

Inspection Result

Passed — Cleared for Shipment

All four verification points passed. Laser marking was observed live at the production station and confirmed correct on all three marks (brand, batch code 24-11, material grade 316L). The DN50 PN25 embossed casting markings are correct and legible. Overall body length of 150.68mm on the 54mm SKU falls within dimensional tolerance. Individual poly bag inner packaging and outer carton labelling were both confirmed correct and consistent with the ATS Proequipment purchase order specifications.
