Typhoon Saudel made landfall in Yuhuan, Taizhou — a manufacturing hub in Zhejiang — at 8:05 a.m. on August 28, then a second landfall in Wenzhou an hour later. Zhejiang raised a Level I emergency response. It was the third typhoon to strike the same stretch of coast in under two months, after Bavi and Dolphin, matching the province's 2004 mark of three landfalls in a year.
Rail lines connecting Taizhou, Wenzhou, and Ningbo — a corridor dense with component and parts manufacturers — suspended service during the storm. Ningbo and Wenzhou also cancelled flights. Inland provinces took heavy rain through the following Monday.
Saudel was the 18th named typhoon of 2026. Peak season typically runs into October, so this is a calendar issue, not a one-week disruption.
